ABSTRACT

The single most important act of planning a sequence of lessons that are rooted in the idea of investigating everyday language is to use texts from everyday life. Found texts can include leaflets that fall out of a newspaper or magazine and would normally end up in the recycling bin. Flyers that get included in packaging with online purchases, instruction sheets that accompany a new product and information notes producers use to explain the history and nature of the product you’ve bought are equally valuable sources.
