Vibro-flotation and dynamic compaction
Vibro-flotation and dynamic compaction are described in this chapter. In vibro-flotation, the density of granular soils is increased by the insertion of a heavy vibrating poker to the desired depth. Stone columns are dealt with in detail. Geopiers, and Mortar-Sand-Rammed-Column are also described. Dynamic compaction is a ground improvement technique that densifies soils and fills by using a drop weight. Design methods and construction procedures are also provided. A few case studies have been included to provide more insight into the techniques.
