ABSTRACT

This chapter describes the shallow stabilization. Occasionally the properties of the in situ soils can be improved by adding suitable stabilizing agents. In this chapter methods of shallow stabilization using chemical additives such as cement, lime and other admixtures are discussed. Mixing cement with slag, fly ash and polymeric has gained in popularity. Modified Cementitious Stabilizing Agents are also discussed. The prime purpose of blending binders is to reduce the costs and improve technical performance and relatively long term durability. A number of case studies have been included for the ease and better understanding of the readers.
