ABSTRACT
Authoritarians want people to remain ignorant and then they exploit that ignorance. Ignorance always has been and always will be something that authoritarians exploit. The authoritarians in question may be educators, they may have advanced degrees, or they may have a high intelligence, but their hate-and-punish agenda is vastly helped if the people around them remain in the Dark Ages. The self-interest of most adults – especially authoritarians – makes them secretly wish that all schools would crumble and vanish. Educators agree at the level of lip service that teaching critical thinking skills is education's number one priority. Often "learning" is countenanced, even by some authoritarians. Learning is relatively safe, certainly safer than thinking. Industry and academia both act as if the highest level of educational attainment that was available to a person when young represents the maximum worth of their mind.
