ABSTRACT

The Li 13 Ba 8 GaSb 12 quaternary compound, which crystallizes in the monoclinic structure with the lattice parameters a = 1806.50 ± 0.10, b = 494.07 ± 0.10, and c = 1301.23 ± 0.10 pm and β = 126.728 ± 0.010°, a calculated density of 4.852 g·cm−3, and an energy gap of 0.0489 ± 0.0001 eV, is formed in the Ga–Li–Ba–Sb system (Todorov and Sevov 2006). The title compound was synthesized from the elements. The corresponding stoichiometric mixture was heated at 860°C for 1 week and then cooled down to room temperature at a rate of 6°C·h−1. All manipulations were carried out in an Ar-filled glove box with a moisture level below 1 part per million (ppm).
