ABSTRACT
Non-finite verb forms (i modi indefiniti) have no specified subject or tense. They are the infinitive (e.g. to eat); the gerund (e.g. singing); and participles – past and present (e.g. established, establishing). Unlike finite verbs, non-finite verbs cannot be conjugated because they do not have separate forms for each person or tense. However, they are widely used in Italian and are extremely versatile parts of speech.
