ABSTRACT
Noise-control methods and principles are best explained and understood by illustrations and examples in the form of case studies. Case studies relating to noise in the workplace have been used, by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) in particular, as a motivational tool to encourage engineers and managers in industry to attempt noise-control measures in their workplaces rather than relying on earplugs and ear muffs to protect the hearing of workers in industry.
