ABSTRACT

This chapter argues that Kant was right neither about space nor about time. It describes that Quinton and Swinburne have made out their case with regard to space, and offers an argument similar to theirs which will then be modified in the course of developing a case for the possibility of non-unified time. The chapter considers the possibility of developing arguments to establish the possibility of unified space and non-unified time. The possibility of a spatial analogue of multiple time-streams will be established by a fantasy argument. The chapter does not seek to elaborate an account of such a fantasy world which would be even more outlandish. It modifies to convert that account into an account of a possible world which involves both multiple space and multiple time-streams. The chapter deals with the considerations which have been advanced for thinking that time must be unified.
