ABSTRACT

Goal correction is about eliminating all the things which stand in the way of getting at real meaning, the real problem. In Egan it is in stage of the skilled helper model to ascertain what the client is seeking, but in Goal Corrected Empathic Attunement (GCEA) it is far more subtle; empathetic attunement is the difference. If managers and helping professionals can develop enough of this attunement, goal correcting and empathy skills they can have, enormous purposeful impact at work. Work is essentially interpersonal. The biological systems described by The Theory of Attachment Based Exploratory Interest Sharing (TABEIS) are both intra and interpersonal. The McCluskey model includes a diagram developed by Dorothy Heard–showing how if care-seeking is active but unmet people very quickly become anxious, as system for self-defence takes over as the dominant emotional and behavioural presentation. TABEIS, like other good models of self and its attributes, considers the ideas of development, preference and predetermined hotwired genealogy.
