Accordingly, a methodology has been developed in order to implement this body of concepts. Indeed, one is tempted to think that Translation Criticism is often nothing more than a catalogue of failures, where perceptive critics point out all the shortcomings of different translators' works, and then suggest how they could have done better. Translation Criticism is clearly a very specialized sort of exercise which falls outside the more traditional applications of Translation Studies. It involves making a series of judgements in order to be able to compare two perceived messages – in the source text (ST) and. The Translation critic, then, is not confronted with a text to translate, but with two completed communication situations, and it is he or she who, paradoxically enough, is the receiver of both ST and TT.
