ABSTRACT
After a partial historical background of letter-writing practices in the 18th century, this chapter addresses the formal aspects of the epistle (Elpass 2012) before addressing some biographical details about the three English public citizens, namely Charles Andrews, Edward Thompson and John Amery. It then address the correspondence between them, and concludes with a discussion of how this textual form and its contents are valuable from a micro historical perspective.
