ABSTRACT
I tried to show that the question of a regulation is posed not only for jouissance, but also for desire. When I say “regulation”, this does not indicate that there exists some possible agent of this regulation. It is a question about the apparatuses [ appareils ] that are at work. It is not enough to give as an answer to this question: language. Because, of course, it (language) determines desire, the jouissance of the drive, and symptom jouissance, but on top of this, an additional regulation is called for, which would be, let us say, a socialising regulation.
