ABSTRACT

To be considered creative, must a person’s achievements bring widespread recognition? We do not think so. As Shank and Cleary point out, simply getting through a typical day in the modern world requires imagination. “These small acts of creativity, though they differ in scope, are not different in kind from the brilliant leaps of an Einstein. Creativity is a commonplace in cognition, not an esoteric gift bequeathed only to a few.” 1
