ABSTRACT
A 2-year-old boy presents with right foot pain. His mother thinks he may have stepped on a splinter in their new house. He has a small cut on the bottom of his foot with surrounding erythema and significant pain on palpation. A foot x-ray is obtained, which is unremarkable. An ultrasound is performed as demonstrated next.
