ABSTRACT

The mother states that for the past several days she has noticed an increasing amount of bruising on her son. Initially the bruising was limited to the shins, but it has spread to the arms and face. The patient may have bumped his head a few times, but the mother denies any other traumatic events. The patient has otherwise been acting normally. No neurologic changes. No vomiting, diarrhea, weight loss, joint pain, or fever. The patient did have a URI a couple weeks ago, but symptoms have since resolved. The patient has not had any similar bruising in the past. No family history of any bleeding disorders. The patient is not on any medications. No recent immunizations.
