ABSTRACT

A 6-year-old male presents to the emergency room after ingesting a screw bit. The father was putting together furniture that they had brought into the living room, and the patient was playing nearby. The father had changed the screw bit of the power drill to a smaller sized bit. Later, the father noticed he was missing the screw bit. The patient told his father that he swallowed it while playing with it. He has some sore throat pain but does not have any globus sensation in his throat, chest pain, vomiting, or abdominal pain. The father thinks that the event happened 1 hour earlier. The patient has not eaten anything since the event. He is otherwise healthy without medical issues.
