ABSTRACT

A 3-year-old boy presents to the emergency department with a history of fever for 2 days, knee pain, and a limp. On exam he is non-toxic appearing and there is point tenderness over the distal femur with minimal erythema, edema, and decreased range of motion. The patient has an antalgic gait. All other joints appear normal with full range of motion. There is no history of trauma or recent illness.
