ABSTRACT
A 3-year-old girl, with a history of drooling and lethargy for the past day, is urgently brought to the emergency department by her mother. The mother notes a decrease in her daughter's oral intake for the past 2 days. She has had a runny nose and nonproductive cough for the past week. There was a temperature measured to 39.2°C today. The mother also noticed some swelling to the left side of her daughter's neck. The immunizations are up to date and she attends a day care facility.
