ABSTRACT

A 4-month-old girl is brought by her parents with a concern for fever for 2 days. There was a temperature of 39.3°C today. She is taking a normal amount of formula from her bottle. The mother notes some loose stools without blood for one day. Bladder catheterization is ordered to evaluate for a urinary tract infection. The nurse is having difficulty in obtaining a specimen and asks you to examine the child.
