ABSTRACT

A 9-year-old female with a history of tree nut allergy presents to the emergency department after the school nurse injected the patient's epinephrine autoinjector into the patient's left thigh. The patient developed urticaria and difficulty breathing after eating brownies during a classroom party. Since the epinephrine injection, the patient's symptoms have improved, but the autoinjector remains embedded in her thigh. There is no other significant past medical history or other medications.
