ABSTRACT

This chapter puts pictorial framing effects associated with George Lakoff’s two parenting models to the test by using statistical methods. The results demonstrate, for the first time, the susceptibility of biconceptuals’ (i.e., of the political middle’s) attitudes to pictorial conservative and liberal framing. Specifically, framing bailouts in terms of either conservative or liberal ideals result in biconceptuals taking more conservative or liberal stances, respectively.
