ABSTRACT

Robar had come up with the idea of an event inspired by the popular TV show, The X-Files. The first part of this vision was to be achieved by renting movie theaters all over the US with live satellite feeds showing the presentation of the upcoming Christmas lineup. The second part of the concept would be a live event following a two-day developer conference in the San Francisco area with an expected turnout of 4000. The main conference schedule consisted of the usual technical sessions about DirectX-ironically mentioning DirectX 4 and 5, when there was never a DirectX 4-and various components of the DirectX family of APIs: ActiveMovie, Active3D, DirectPlay, Direct3D and DirectInput. All of the events within the hangar were going to be shown live to the theater audiences around the country, and at one point Bill Gates would take the stage.
