ABSTRACT
Chapter 7 discusses the following questions: What are the main challenges and new facts on the ground facing the US in MENA? This chapter explains how Russia, Iran and China have reasserted their interests and generated new facts on the ground that generally do not align with US interests, forcing the United States into a defensive and reactive mode of action translated into revised US defence and national interest strategies in MENA and South Asia.
