ABSTRACT

The Commission on the Status of Women is represented by three female delegates in every session of the Commission on Human Rights when the drafts of the Declaration of Human Rights are debated. These female representatives, such as Vice-Chair Marie-Hélène Lefaucheux of France, are supported by International Women’s Movements from different parts of the world. To advance women’s equal rights and freedoms to an international political level is crucial for women’s organizations receiving consultative status at the United Nations in the postwar years. How far will the solidarity expressed by women during the Second World War reach?
