ABSTRACT

Water is a necessary element for human life. Water is also indirectly a food commodity, and it is a major factor in agricultural consumption. Since countries that today have limited water supplies also have the highest birth rates, serious conflicts between the north and south appear to be inevitable in the near future if nothing is done to limit population growth and distribute resources more equitably. In reality, water molecules have extremely variable transit times, which means that the average value itself does not reflect reality very well. The atmosphere is the most mobile water reservoir in space and time. The volume of water accumulated as vapor, droplets, and ice crystals is small compared to other reservoirs. The greenhouse effect is a natural phenomenon that maintains a mild temperature at the Earth’s surface. The increase of carbon dioxide results from the return of large quantities of geologic carbon to the atmosphere.
