ABSTRACT

Psychoanalytic treatments, conducted online or on the telephone, need our sustained attention to building a theory base if Patients are to continue refining best practice. The analytic space can become libidinous within any technology. This space, which is new for patients, promotes the development of the transference, whether it be retrospective (a repetition of earlier ways of relating) or prospective (an anticipation of a new way of relating). The resulting psychoanalytic process based on an emotional-intellectual encounter leads to achieving greater availability for thinking with another. Analysis creatively reopens the enigma in fantasy in the conjunction with the analyst. If this analytical situation is created, whether in the analyst’s office or in the cyber communication, an analytic process will occur. Apparently neurotic psychic structure that had seemed analysable soon revealed an ego fragility guarded by a rigid and still severe superego.
