ABSTRACT

The adolescent psychotherapist often finds herself liaising with other professionals and being invited to submit reports or attend multi-disciplinary meetings. These dimensions of the work can prove stressful and taxing for the therapist, particularly in her earlier days when she is accumulating experience. The dynamics of case management within the discipline of adolescent psychotherapy are discussed in this chapter, with the core principles and procedures regarding child protection outlined. The interprofessional context is explored and broad guidelines are offered in relation to report writing and court work. Onward referral and terminating therapeutic work with adolescents are also discussed.
