ABSTRACT
IT was a New Year's Eve ! The sun was setting in his glory and a wonderful stillness reigned throughout the Colony. People were walking leisurely toward the synagogue-even Abraham and Moses, the most mischievous of the boys, walked in a subdued manner beside their parents, not even thinking of teasing their sisters, for was not this the Eve of the New Year, when all beings came for judgment before the Throne of the God of Israel ?
