ABSTRACT

The concept of high technology sector is difficult to define because modern technologies often refer to various traditionally understood industries. The high technology sector can be defined as functioning at the interface between science and industry, it is based on the processing of research results in industry. It is characterized by high education intensity, high level of innovation, rapid diffusion of innovation and close scientific and technical cooperation. This sector requires large capital expenditures and carries a high investment risk. Enterprises in this sector are intensively engaged in research and development, effectively use knowledge, create inventions and innovations as well as technologically advanced goods, thus contributing to the increase of efficiency of the entire economy.
