ABSTRACT

Innovativeness is one of the most important economic issues from both a theoretical and a political perspective. Many governments are taking action to transform the country into a knowledge-based economy, where innovation is a key driver of economic development. In countries such as Poland, which are not leaders in the international technological race, but whose distance from the leaders is not very long, the key to the transformation to a knowledge-based economy is not only the ability to innovate, but also the ability to absorb innovations developed abroad (Truskolaski 2013).
