ABSTRACT
Psychotic states of mind are characterised by a profound disturbance in the sufferer’s relationship to reality, internal and external. At the level of description associated with the practice of psychoanalytic psychotherapy, these mental states can be explicated in terms of a severe disruption in the apprehension of emotional experience.
