ABSTRACT

One of the many advantages of the Hamiltonian and Lagrangian de scriptions, based on Hamilton’s principle of stationary action, is the gener ality of its application. The variational analysis of relativistic Lagrangian fields may be carried out by an adjustment to the notation of the previous discussions in Parts II and III. The results are in many ways simpler than the corresponding material for Galilean fields given in Chapter 10.
