ABSTRACT
By the 1450s, the Renaissance style and its cultural con-
text were part of the fabric of Florence and, to a greater
or lesser degree, had infi ltrated other areas of Italy. The
new trends of the fi rst half of the fi fteenth century had
become a foundation on which younger artists could
build and from which older artists continued to develop.
