ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the concepts discussed in the preceding chapters of this book. The book examines several myths about environmentalism, conservatism, and the economic impact of protecting the environment. It considers fundamental principles of the conservative political philosophy and has seen how they support protecting the environment, conserving natural resources, and preserving our natural heritage. The book discusses the key to solving many environmental problems is to get people and companies to take responsibility for the consequences of their actions. In American society, evading responsibility is practically a way of life and denial seems to be the favorite escape route—denial of evidence and obstruction of any attempt to gather evidence if the results might be inconvenient. The book describes a key to solving many of environmental problems in free market, where prices include the full social costs of products and services and where producers and consumers must pay the full costs of their production and consumption.
