I INTRODUCTION Successful spinal surgery begins with a careful and meticulous surgical approach. The most appropriate approach is dependent on the nature of the fracture, its location, and its extent. This chapter discusses anterior and posterior approaches to the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine.
