ABSTRACT
When caring for residents in a long term-care facility (LTCF), infections are frequently encountered. Each facility must have an infection control program as mandated by Federal regulation (1). This program is designed to investigate, control, and prevent infections in the facility; decide what procedures, such as isolation, should be applied to an individual resident; and maintain a record of incidents and corrective actions related to infections.
