ABSTRACT

INTRODUCTION Liposuction with tumescent anesthesia has a relatively low maintenance and an uncomplicated postoperative course when compared to other cosmetic procedures such as skin resurfacing. The postoperative course differs greatly from that of traditional dry or wet technique liposuction, which can cause blood loss significant enough to require transfusions, extensive bruising, hematomas, and seromas. The postoperative course is best divided into three phases: immediate, short term, and long term.
