ABSTRACT

Liposuction has become the most commonly performed cosmetic surgery in the United States. One would expect to see some unsatisfactory results requiring secondary procedures. I have treated patients who are unhappy after liposuction and who do not want to go back to the original surgeon for obvious reasons. Some of these problems are amenable to repair, even when an entire area is uneven, using a combination of liposuction done both by hand and with an aspiration machine along with fat transfer. Fat transfer procedures have advanced over the past decade and now one can achieve long-lasting improvement, especially when the fat is harvested from an area near the recipient area.
