ABSTRACT

In creating an effective performance management system, three interdependent processes need to be coordinated:(13)

1. A descriptive process, defining the nature of the performance domain. In the job description, this is addressed by identifying ongoing job responsibilities and key result areas.

2. A measurement and mapping process that measures the performance and attributes it to a performer. This involves selection of performance indicators which are largely under the control of the individual or team whose performance is being assessed. These performance measures (for ongoing tasks) are specified in the job description.
