ABSTRACT
The aim of this chapter is to introduce the reader to the variety of wildlife crimes and their investigations. Allied to this is the sample types encountered. Prior to getting into the subsequent chapters on the scientific testing being employed, it is necessary that the tests are validated and fit for purpose. This chapter will cover this most important part of wildlife crime investigations.
