ABSTRACT

For an application to be valuable, it must have the ability to process data. This is something that traditional systems do on a daily basis, and do very well. Most Web-based applications can also process data. However, the data processed by these applications is usually far more limited in scope than non-Web-based applications. For an X application to be truly valuable, it must be able to process the full cadre of data and information and knowledge resources owned by a typical organization. An X application’s ability to work transparently with a server without constant browser refresh makes this form of data processing much more doable than in the past.
