ABSTRACT
Introduction Receiving functions and dock areas are as important as storage and pick function areas. The receiving dock is where everything in a warehouse starts. To ensure that a warehouse has an efficient and cost-effective receiving dock, six elements are necessary:
n A vendor vehicle dock schedule program. n A central office to control all receiving activities, including the printing of tally sheets and
identification labels, and to ensure closure on orders and accurate communication with the WMS or host computer.
