ABSTRACT

Recognized as less frequent subtypes of HD were the lymphocyte depletion and lymphocyte predominance forms. Lymphocyte depletion contains relatively few small lymphocytes and frequent Reed-Sternberg cells in a background of diffuse fibrosis. This subtype occurs most often in elderly male patients with retroperitoneal lymphadenopathy, bone marrow involvement, and systemic B symptoms. Lymphocyte predominance is a usually localized form of HD without systemic symptoms, showing a peak incidence in children and male patients in the 4th decade.
