ABSTRACT
Inherent in surgical procedures is the consideration of risks of anesthesia. Concerns specific to laparoscopic surgery including patient positioning need to be understood and addressed prior to undertaking these procedures. Specifically, the effects of pneumoperitoneum and carbon dioxide, alterations in renal physiology, and changes to the circulatory system will be addressed herein.
