I. INTRODUCTION

Essential tremor is one of the most prevalent movement disorders and has

affected people from the beginning of modern human existence. As far back as

history has been recorded, references are made to medical diseases, including

general descriptions of tremor. The distinct entity of essential tremor, however,

was not fully described until the end of the 19th century, and the term “essential

tremor” was not routinely used by neurologists until the second half of the

20th century (1). Advancements have been made in the treatment of essential

tremor, and we continue to look for new medications and modalities to treat

this disease.
