The bone conduction test as now performed is not a completely reliable measure of sensorineural efficiency. Excessive reliance on this test may mislead the physician. Figure 12.4 illustrates a case in which the bone conduction was almost undetectable audiometrically with a vibrating tuning fork on the patient's mastoid bone or forehead.
