ABSTRACT

The most obvious effect of hearing loss is its impact on auditory communication; however, the damaging effect of hearing loss on an individual's ability to function effectively in social and business life is far more critical. In some people, hearing loss can undermine natural optimism and confidence in one's ability to interact successfully with other people. If hearing loss is not addressed through medical treatment and/or rehabilitation, it can lead to insecurity, social withdrawal, paranoia, and impaired function in professional settings.
