ABSTRACT

Mycosis fungoides is the most common of the cutaneous T-cell lymphomas, a group of disorders that arise from malignant CD4þ helper T cells and localize within skin and associated lymph nodes. Mycosis fungoides is often preceded by a benign phase, which may last years and is usually diagnosed as a nonspecific eczema. Thus, diagnosis is often delayed and even when the diagnosis is considered, histologic confirmation may not be possible. Due to its varying presentations and biologic behavior there is still much uncertainty as to what is the best management for mycosis fungoides but there does appear to be general consensus that UV therapy has a significant role in the management of the early stages of disease.
