ABSTRACT

The ultimate goal of a formulation scientist, whether in the pharmaceutical, agrochemical, or specialty chemical industry, is to develop a stable product that would retain its desirable physical and chemical properties throughout the shelf-life of the product (1). The desired product attributes could include one or more of the following: improved bioavailability, enhanced disintegration time, controlled or retarded drug release, and improved solubility, tensile strength, crystallinity, or hydrophobicity. Often times, achieving these goals can be quite challenging, and sometimes very elusive.
