ABSTRACT

The Richardson operation consists of suspending the uterine isthmus and uterosacral ligaments to the sacrospinous ligament with a non-resorbable thread. Although the procedure has several disadvantages, it also has one decisively important advantage: it offers the possibility for uterine suspension with conservation of the uterus via a vaginal approach, without affecting the patient’s fertility and even permitting subsequent childbirth via the vaginal route.
